This is going to be a lengthy review because I genuinely love this product, so I apologize in advance. I hope my experience helps someone else.
A quick heads-up: both products contain isopropyl alcohol, which can be very drying. While theyâre effective, thereâs a chance you might experience irritation, as I did. After about four days, I developed a slightly itchy rash with tiny bumps, reminiscent of contact dermatitis. Thankfully, my breakout had already cleared by then. If you encounter a similar reaction, donât panic. Just stop using the product temporarily, and it should subside. You can cover it up with non-irritating makeup, but it might take up to two weeks to fully heal, as it did for me. Your skin may feel a bit rough for a couple of weeks afterward, but exfoliation can help. In the future, you can use the product again, but sparingly and only on the affected areas. I think my irritation stemmed from applying it over the entire blemish area rather than targeting the specific spots. While this side effect might seem undesirable, I really needed to address a breakout that was getting worse, and I believe it was my oversight for not being more precise. Itâs not guaranteed to happen to you, but I wanted to share my experience. Youâll be alright, I promise.
I purchased and used this in combination with the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, so I left the same review for both. I decided to use them together based on another reviewer’s suggestion, so I can’t rate them separately. That said, I was genuinely amazed at how effective they are. I experienced a frustrating hormonal breakout of papules (blind pimples) on my chin during my cycle, and they usually take ages to heal since the infection is deep beneath the surface. To make matters worse, whenever one would clear up, another would appear. I had about four painful ones in the same area. Although I hesitated to spend a lot on a product, I felt desperate after weeks of no improvement from anything else.
Hereâs a little about how I utilized the products:
For my routine, I waited until evening, cleaned my face, then applied the buffering lotion to the blemishes with my fingers as instructed. After about a minute, I used a cotton swab to apply a bit of the drying lotion. I used the products for five days, but I couldâve stopped at four. Now, I have NO blemishes and am just focusing on fading the pigmentation marks, which I can manage. I’m extremely satisfied with the product’s performance and highly recommend it.
Hereâs a brief overview of different types of blemishes, as it can be confusing to identify what you have (feel free to correct me if Iâm wrong; this is based on my personal research):
Severe types of cystic acne may need professional treatment. Iâm unsure how these products would work on minor cystic acne, but itâs worth a shot. Some reviews suggest they are effective for mild cases.
Lastly, donât panic if you think your papules are nodular cystic acne; the difference lies in size. Both feel similar, but papules are 1cm or less, while nodular acne ranges from 1-5cm.
